Toyota Camry Nascar Edition
RKM Built Toyota Camry NASCAR Edition 358 V8 680 HP T-56 6 Speed PS A/C
Originally built for and debuted at the 2010 SEMA Show, what you get with the hefty price tag is a one-off vehicle including a completely custom 2010 Camry two-door coupe shell that was fabricated by RK Motors’ own metalsmiths.
Plenty of NASCAR-inspired components were added onto the vehicle, including a complete body kit, grille, carbon fiber brake ducts with foglights, side-exit exhaust system, carbon fiber rear-view mirrors, and a deck lid spoiler. But amongst all these race-inspired parts are some OE pieces as well, including the fuel filler door, factory Camry taillights, and door handles.
The real highlight, however, is the 358-cubic inch powerplant under the hood, a TRD NASCAR V8 with 680-hp. It’s mated to a Tremec T-56 Magnum six-speed transmission with a Ram dual-disc street clutch. Once again blending race with street, the NASCAR Camry features a staggered set of 20-inch TSW Jarama wheels with Michelin Pilot rubber on all four corners.
The interior is probably the most tame of the entire project, featuring a full-sized rear seat. There are some leather tie-ins to match the exterior two-tone paint while Pioneer and Boston Acoustics outfitted the cabin with new beats.
The highly detailed engine compartment matches the exterior’s red and white paint scheme. A pair of K&N air filters feeds the 680-hp TRD 5.9-liter (358 cu.-in.) V-8 with peak power coming in at 8500 rpm. Exhaust exists through custom three-inch pipes with an x-pipe, Thrush mufflers, and Quicktime cut outs with side exit tips. The exhaust features a high-temperature Turbo Black coating from H.M. Elliot Inc.
Other under-hood features include firewall-mounted fuel pressure gauges, remote-mounted brake and clutch reservoirs, and a billet aluminum strut tower brace. With air conditioning and power steering, the NASCAR Edition Camry coupe gets a modified version of the production car‘s front strut suspension while a modified version of the Venza’s multi-link independent rear end is used in back.
